HOW WE OPERATE: DIVERSITY

Diversity is the power of differences. We believe that having a diverse, inclusive workforce and organization makes us a more innovative and agile company, attuned to the needs of our customers.

Every day, we strive to create an inclusive workplace, where diverse perspectives are respected and all opinions matter:

  • Diversity is woven throughout our business practices and training strategy.
  • Our leaders are accountable for specific objectives related to diversity and inclusion. Results are measured in terms of individual, division and company-wide performance.
  • We provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified job applicants.
  • We cast a wide net in our search for talent, seeking qualified suppliers – large and small from all segments of the business community. This includes minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses.

This wheel represents the many dimensions of diversity that can be found in any large organization, including Merck. Managing these dimensions effectively can help create a more innovative, engaging and productive workplace.

MSD India

Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India Awards

MSD India has won the prestigious Marketing Excellence Award of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) thrice consecutively in 2007, 2008 and 2009. This signal honour is a recognition of MSD India's commitment to 'putting patients first'.

In 2007, CANCIDAS was awarded the Excellence in Marketing (New Product category) award. CANCIDAS was launched in 2006 for the treatment of Systemic Fungal Infections, and expanded MSD's Critical Care portfolio. The success of CANCIDAS was attributed to extensive pre-launch market research, innovative branded and non-branded marketing, and impactful brand exposure to doctors. In year 2008, Januvia was awarded with the OPPI and in 2009 GARDASIL® [Human Papillomavirus Quadrivalent (Types 6, 11, 16 and 18) Vaccine, Recombinant] was awarded the OPPI Marketing Excellence Award 2009 for its outstanding performance in marketing in the New Pharmaceutical Products Category. The product marketing strategy embodies MSD India's commitment to 'putting patients first' in helping address disease burdens in the country through a comprehensive and strategic partnership approach including the three cornerstones of Education, Screening and Vaccination. This approach is embodied in the unique GuardYourselfTM initiative of the company, which empowers physicians and patients to have an informed discussion, and make a comprehensive preventive choice; and to the deployment of a unique consumer and physician strategy.
